OK, I'm gonna be honest here. I've been an Avril Lavigne fan since the early days. She wrote a lot of that early stuff ("Complicated" and "I'm Yours") and I as hooked. It was good pop, but part of what drew me in was the attitude. A 17 year old skater vixen who gave the finger to the camera and didn't give two shits about anything but rocking.
I bought this DVD on iTunes yesterday and just watched it on the plane ride from Nashville to Vegas.
I have to say, it sounds good and looks good, but I was thoroughly disappointed in her show. The first three songs are Avril choreographed with dancers. I thought I was losing my mind when i saw it, I had to check and make sure I bought the right thing. What happened to the rocker chick? Even her demeanor during the show is sweet and thankful. Sweet and thankful doesn't rock. When you wave to the crowd every song, you lose some cool factor...just ask Phil Vassar. It sucked because the video wall was cool, the set was decently cool and during the show Avril played acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums and piano, but it's the many other songs that she danced around looking like a pageant queen that ruined the rest of the show for me. And this is getting nitpicky, but when she's doing her pageant queen moments I can't get past the fact that she looks JUST like Heidi Montag from the Hills. It really becomes something that I can't shake when watching Avril.
